Luxury Eco Resorts
With over 110 tourist resorts, at the moment there are only a small handful of which have sustainable eco policies in place to protect the future of this beautiful but vulnerable county.
Spirit of Maldives offer a unique collection of luxury Eco resorts – bringing guests of the Maldives everything they dream of from a holiday in Paradise, whilst having the vision to protect this land for generations to come.
Imagine the feeling….complete relaxation, tranquil contentment, away from the stresses of everyday life, feeling a wisp of a breeze as you lay under the canopy of a cooling palm tree. Imagine the sounds…gentle ocean waves caressing a powder white beach, a rustle of leaves in lush vegetation, a bird settling into its nest in the trees. Imagine the sights… azure blue lagoons, colourful tropical flowers, an orange glow as the day begins, a midnight blue sky filled with a million stars.
Spirit of Maldives brings you a unique collection of Luxury Resorts, who work in harmony with this fragile land, actively promoting conservation and cultural projects, without compromising the experience of guests.
Our unique 2010 collection has been chosen with the utmost care to present to you the resorts that epitomize this island paradise:
Alila Villas Hadahaa, Six Senses Soneva Fushi & Soneva Gili, Island Hideaway, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Banyan Tree Madivaru, Angsana Ihuru, Angsana Velavaru, Huvafen Fushi, and Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru.
Spirit of Maldives are contractual partners with the resorts we offer, all of which have in place various eco initiatives, and community programs to ‘give back’ to the islanders, and protect the land they are so passionate about.
The programs the resorts have vary, and include coral cleaning and regeneration initiatives, responsible waste management, water conservation, energy initiatives (reflected in the design and build of the accommodation), marine biology programs and environmental lectures for guests, and excellent community projects are in place to empower the islanders with knowledge of the eco system that will help future generations to come.
Spirit of Maldives will only work with those resorts that have sustainable environmental policies in place, and next year will be able to independently evaluate resorts on the sustainability programs.
With the Maldives in the direct firing line of Global warming, the new government has stepped up initiatives and aims to be the world’s first carbon-neutral country within a decade. Much work needs to be done. By representing only resorts that meet these criteria, we hope to encourage others to follow suit in the quest for responsible tourism and the greater need to implement initiatives to protect this most fragile environment to ensure its survival.Tags: responsible waste management, that will help future generations to come
